On her inspirations for the fully realized animal characters in “Sweet Tales: The Adventures of Britt the Kit,” the first in a series of books that focus on real life experiences and explore universal themes…

When you give yourself over to writing and facing the blank page you begin to write and the story begins…and moves from there.  The animals in the first ‘Sweet Tales’ book did exist.  Pigeons in NYC tend to land on terraces and window sills so they are familiar to me and all others who pay attention.  Nathanial the woodchuck actually lived in the woodshed behind our country home.   Harry the Palomino is based on a horse across the road from where we live.  The Prince of Tails, the red fox was born when I spotted ‘him’ on a golf course and so on.  All the stories have as their basis on original, honest threads of real life.
